UPDATE TO THE UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE: 314.1 TRENCHES

June 7th, 2016|

The text of section 314.1 of the Uniform Plumbing Code has been updated. What Changed 314.1 Trenches. Trenches deeper than the footing of a building or structure, and paralleling the same, shall be located not less than 45 degrees (0.79 rad) there from from the bottom exterior edge of the footing, or as approved in accordance with Section 301.0 of this code. Why It Changed The text in this section was not clear and was commonly misunderstood. This led to many installers and inspectors performing this measurement from the wrong point. This could lead to foundation failure, not pipe failure. The main point [...]

MILLENNIALS VALUE CONNECTIVITY AND ELECTRICITY MORE THAN PLUMBING AND HEATING

By 2025, three of every four people in the global workforce will be a millennial and their preferences and spending habits will directly impact the telecommunications sector. Over 85 percent of millennials own smartphones and more than three quarters (77 percent) of the group believe that they should be ale to stream video wherever they find themselves. However, they are willing to pay more for better service with half of the group claiming that they would spend five percent of their annual salary for super-fast internet. CommScope’s study also found that millennials see social media as their main form of communication which is significantly higher than one third of baby boomers who are using social [...]
