What can cause my water heater to make loud, popping noises?
As water heaters age, they start to hold sediment and mineral deposits within the unit. This is especially common in Las Vegas because we have hard water. Draining the water heater can remove a majority of the materials that exists within the unit. That will help minimize the noises coming from the water heater. If the popping noises continue after being drained, you may want to look into a water heater replacement.
What do I do if my water heater is leaking?
When a water heater is leaking, there is usually a shut off valve on the top of the water heater. By turning the shut off valve, it will prevent the water heater from leaking more. Once the water to the unit is off, it will also shut off the water to the home. You may also drain the unit to prepare for the water heater replacement. Please act quickly with a leaking water heater to prevent secondary damage to your home.

Why is there rusty water coming out of my water heater?
Water heaters should be flushed out annually and the anode rod should also be replaced. Due to lack of maintenance, a water heater may start producing rusty water. Replacement of the anode rod will resolve this issue most of the time. Annual maintenance will prevent it from re-occurring and also will add to the lifespan of the water heater.
Why am I not getting any hot water?
There are multiple components on a water heater that could cause lack of hot water. The unit could need a replacement of a thermocouple or thermostat. A failing recirculation pump could cause fluctuation of water temperatures. A certified technician would be able to accurately determine the cause and replace the part.
Do I need a permit for a water heater installation?
Yes, a permit is required for any water heater replacement. This is to ensure proper and safe installation which ultimately protects the home owner. Once the water heater is installed, an inspection is scheduled with the home owner. The city/county inspector will check the water heater to make sure that it was installed per standards/plumbing code. Please (click here) for more information regarding permit requirements.
